In 2019, Lloyd’s Register Foundation invested £15 million with the Royal Academy of ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø to help establish ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø X. Active in over 35 countries, ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø X tackles global safety and sustainability challenges and promotes the contribution of engineering to solve them.
Lloyd’s Register Foundation sponsor three programmes with ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø X, each with a unique strategic vision and governance structure. The Skills for ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø programme is focused on enabling the delivery of skills for safer engineering through education, advocacy, community building and collaborating with industry.
Outputs of the programme include , a landmark study that introduces a new framework for measuring a nation’s ability to conduct engineering practices safely and effectively, and provides recommendations on how to prioritise challenges and address capacity gaps. The Skills for ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø programme also awards impact grants, funding around 40 projects in 23 countries looking at different aspects of safety, safety training, policy and safety skills provision.
